This Artwork Shows How Gohan Could Have Actually Looked Like In The Buu Arc!
Twitter user @allofmywhy whipped out some great artwork based on some real design concepts from Akira Toriyama himself. Some of you may not like the look but personally, I love how Super Saiyan Gohan looks in this shot. The fan artwork was really well received by the Twitter community as it exploded and went viral in a few hours. It currently has 16k likes and nearly 4.5k retweets. Even the artist was surprised that it went viral.
As you can see above, this design is kinda different than what we had for Gohan in the past. I think Toriyama imagined him to be one of those pretty boys of the 90’s era or something. Some people may argue that this is just a fan design but the artist also provided the actual design concept made by Akira Toriyama himself. You can see the original design concept down below! It really looks like a sweet 90’s anime boy.
On Twitter, a lot of people were saying things along the line, “We were robbed!”, “I would have liked to have seen this scrapped design used but it is what it is. I wonder what other scrapped designs there are that did not make the final cut for the Buu arc?”, “I love this!! But it seems more like a design that would fit Goten. Is there anywhere I can find Toriyama’s concept art of this?” I agree on the last one, it kinda looks like Goten too.
So, what do you guys think about this Gohan design? Do you think they should have used this design for the Buu arc or not? I think they can still use a similar design for Goten if they ever plan to show us a teenager Goten in Dragon Ball Super. Overall, I really liked how Gohan looks in his Super Saiyan form. I am sure Super Saiyan 2 would have looked so cool. Well, that’s it for now. Let me know your thoughts about this in the comments down below!
